Persistent Systems is a technology services company. The firm operates four reportable business segments: Infrastructure and Systems, Telecom and Wireless, Life Sciences and Healthcare, and Financial Services.

Founding story

Persistent Systems develops software that drives the business of its clients. It was incorporated as Persistent Systems Private Limited in India in 1990. Over the next decade it acquired a number of software competitors and expanded internationally, opening offices in the UK, Japan, and the Netherlands. It also formed partnerships with other companies such as Microsoft and M/1M.

In 2001 it set up Persistent Systems, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary based in the U.S. In September 2007 it was converted into a public limited company with the new name Persistent Systems Limited. In March 2010 shares in the firm were listed on the National Stock Exchange of India. That same year it acquired several firms, including Infospectrum and Paxonix, a subsidiary of MeadWestvaco.

Anand Deshpande,
Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director

info: Anand earned a B. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science at Indiana University. He previously worked at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories.

Sunil Sapre,
Chief Financial Officer

info: Sunil earned a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. He previously held several leadership roles at L&T Group, including the Head of Finance and Accounts for Global Operations. He is responsible for the treasury, financial reporting, and taxation at Persistent Systems.

Siddhartha Chatterjee,
Chief Technology Officer

info: Siddharta earned a B. Tech. degree in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering at IIT and a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He previously held numerous executive positions at IBM.
