Headline: We're currently on the lookout for a talented Coach / Delivery Lead to join us in our (fast growing) studio in SOMA, San Francisco. So if think you’ve got what it takes to create digital products and services that break new ground for some of the biggest brands on the planet, we can’t wait to hear from you. About The Role: At Potato, best in class software development and human-centred design are at the heart of everything we do. We’re a talented bunch of problem solvers who are committed to finding a better way; delivering smarter products that provide more satisfying experiences and more valuable outcomes for our clients and their users. Our clients include Google, Mozilla and the BBC. Our Coaches - at all levels - enable our product delivery teams to work efficiently, effectively and positively together. In other words, “helping our Product Teams help themselves”. Above all, the Coach team impacts the way we deliver purposeful digital products and services to market for our clients, by collaborating with cross functional, highly skilled engineering and design teams. You will be a constant go-to for “what is the Potato way of working” as that evolves. You will be taking a leading role to help grow and maintain a source of key tools, methods, approaches and templates. Your delivery responsibilities will include tracking velocity, burn rates and team-member-time. In addition, you will be performing regular reporting on the overall health of the work we do as well as running invoices on your products/projects. A vital part of the role is fostering a team-based environment where reliable project delivery happens through empowering teams of skilled individuals, rather than through old-fashioned project management “command & control” approaches. About You: As Coach / Delivery Lead, you will need to be an exemplar for the practice internally and externally, focus on constant self-development to stay progressive, and be responsible for supporting a portfolio of Product Teams working on separate projects, or multiple projects within a single product - each of which may have a Coach. You will be expected to support those coaches and foster healthy teamwork across the portfolio that you are looking after. You should be able to both deliver your own individual projects, as well as safeguarding those that are run by the coaches in your team. You will have experience in successfully delivering projects by fostering an environment of proactivity, delivery, and continuous improvement. Alongside that, we expect our coaches to be responsible for ensuring healthy and positive team dynamics, communication, and feedback. Required Skills: At least 10+ years of experience in the delivery of digital projects, products and services. High level of understanding of prevalent agile and lean software delivery and design practices, as well as web and mobile technologies and platforms. Experience of managing internal initiatives as well as external client projects - Potato SF is a our newest studio so we would expect you to support some of the day to day operations of the studio. Evidence of mentoring teams and coaches, in areas like professional growth and interpersonal interactions. Experience in the oversight of major or tricky projects or programmes of work (e.g. multiple related projects, large project teams, complex tech, multitudes of difficult stakeholders, etc). Optional Skills: Evidence of having raised issues early in previous roles and often to model the value of early problem detection. We would like to see experience in proactive risk mitigation to avoid preventable escalations. Personal resilience and ability to deal with demanding clients (e.g. Product / Director level and C Suite). Previous experience in leadership roles. A demonstration that you can encourage and motivate positive team attitude under adverse circumstances - "Grace under fire". Strong capacity for systems thinking at a level above individual project requirements. Values: Working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best engineers, designers and product leads in town, we’ll give you the freedom to manage your own work and trust you to get things done. Want to work from home occasionally? Go for it. Need to unwind with a game of Fortnite or some studio dog cuddles? All good. Ultimately, we just want to make sure that you have everything you need to help us deliver the best products possible. You’ll have many opportunities for growth and learning: collaboration within teams, rotation to different products, experimentation on internal tools as well as involvement in our Potato Talks events, mentorship and conferences. A strong background in collaborating with other designers and developers. Examples of having had shared design thinking and recommendations with clients & colleagues. Optional Skills: You have run design sprints or other workshop-type activities with stakeholders. You have worked in agile teams, delivering design across a series of sprints, working closely with developers. You have used analytics to measure and validate your design work. Values: Working shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best engineers, coaches and product leads in town, we’ll give you the freedom to manage your own work and trust you to get things done. Headline: We're currently on the lookout for talented agile coaches to join us in our (fast growing) studio in SOMA, San Francisco. So if think you’ve got what it takes to deliver digital products and services that break new ground for some of the biggest brands on the planet, we can’t wait to hear from you. This role will see you working as part of a friendly, expert team - helping us deliver huge-scale projects for some of the biggest tech and media companies in the world (no pressure). Our projects and products are run light. The least amount of intervention, documentation, and process is used to deftly deliver, often beyond what the client requires, on time and on budget. The Coach is essentially accountable for 'helping our Product Teams help themselves'. A vital part of the role is fostering a team-based environment where reliable project delivery happens through empowering teams of skilled individuals, rather than through old-fashioned project management 'command & control' approaches. At Potato, our Coaches work closely with Product Leads to understand and anticipate clients' needs/requirements - and can intervene to better facilitate a positive team dynamic. In doing so, you will support them in backlog definition and refinement to ensure its quality is conducive to product flow. You will also work closely with clients, to integrate stakeholder and partner teams to foster a 'one team' collaboration. About You: As a Coach, you will need to be a representative for the practice internally and externally, focus on constant self-development to stay progressive and be responsible for supporting (not line managing) one or more projects. You will be expected to support your product/project team and foster healthy teamwork. You should be well versed in prevalent agile and lean software delivery and design practices. Above all, the Coach team impacts the way we deliver purposeful digital products and services to market for our clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional, highly skilled engineering and design teams. We need our Coaches - at all levels - to enable our product delivery teams to work efficiently, effectively and positively together. You will be expected to provide quick, thorough and friendly client and team communications. In the work you do, you should have systems thinking at a level above individual project requirements. Required Skills: Experience working in product teams: fostering healthy and positive team dynamics, communication, and feedback. Experience in helping teams with challenges related to how they work and interact together. Coached individuals throughout your teams, as needed, in areas like professional growth and interpersonal interactions (including conflict resolution). Examples of where you have previously raised issues early and often to model the value of early problem detection. Scrum and Sprint application - though we do not intend to slavishly adopt Agile processes, Coaches will be using the concepts of the Scrum Framework as foundation for team support, and managing sprint-based iterations on projects. Therefore all our coaches will have Scrum experience, directly through practice, and through training and ongoing development support. Optional Skills: Facilitated group sessions such as retrospectives, conflict resolution, decision making, team and project kick-offs, involving team members to take active roles as appropriate. Fostered Scrum & Sprint leadership in past roles. Have proactively mitigated risks in projects, preventing issues from leading to preventable escalations in collaboration with the teams. Experience in handling and effectively solving problems in a fast-paced environment.
