  • Technical – The world class engineering team has designed some amazing projects, including The Cube and Virtual Art Sessions.
  • Creative – The creative team at Potato has designed ingenious imaginative and artistic projects, such as Goldivox and Google Art Project.

History

Potato was created in the year 2010 by an experienced software developer Jason Cartwright and his long-time business partner Luke Guttridge. Potato has its headquarters in London and has more offices in Bristol and San Francisco. Potato is now part of the AKQA network, a global digital agency.

About The Role: This role will see you working as part of a friendly expert team - developing websites tools and apps for huge audiences. Our projects and products are run light. The least amount of intervention documentation and process is used to deftly deliver often beyond what the client requires on time and on budget. The Coach is essentially accountable for 'helping our Product Teams help themselves'. A vital part of the role is fostering a team-based environment where reliable project delivery happens through empowering teams of skilled individuals rather than through old-fashioned project management 'command & control' approaches. As a Coach you will need to be a representative for the practice internally and externally focus on constant self-development to stay progressive and be responsible for supporting (not line managing) one or more projects. Required Skills: How to ensure the successful delivery of projects by fostering an environment of proactivity delivery and continuous improvement Fostering healthy and positive team dynamics communication and feedback Helping teams with challenges related to how they work and interact together Coaching individuals throughout your teams as needed in areas like professional growth and interpersonal interactions (including conflict resolution) Raising issues early and often to model the value of early problem detection Taking a leading role to help grow and maintain a source of key tools methods approaches and templates Helping product teams integrate client and partner teams to foster a 'one team' collaboration Partnering with the Product Lead (responsible for Product Outcomes and Strategy) - and can intervene to better facilitate a positive team dynamic Supporting the Product Lead in their management and refinement of the product backlog to ensure its quality is conducive to product flow Scrum and Sprint application - though we do not intend to slavishly adopt Agile processes Coaches will be using the concepts of the Scrum Framework as foundation for team support and managing sprint-based iterations on projects. Headline: We're Potato a cutting edge digital product development agency with a pretty unique culture. Due to growth we are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join us in our studio in central London. We love developing digital products websites apps and tools for huge audiences. Our clients include Google YouTube and Tate to name a few. About The Role: This role is based at our office on Tottenham Court Road in Central London where you’ll have a desk with your name on it. You’ll take a leading role in one of our product teams where you’ll make sound architectural decisions in building complex and highly-scalable web applications. You’ll also mentor developers both in your product team and across our wider engineering team. Working alongside designers coaches and product leads you’ll be responsible for delivering the technical side of products by ensuring you and your team plan and execute the delivery of excellent simple reliable maintainable software meeting user and stakeholder needs and timelines. Most of our products are web-based and use Python (and occasionally Node) on the server most often Django on Google App Engine (sometimes Firebase AWS or Azure). We use a mix of relational and non-relational databases and other cloud services. We aim to strike a balance between leveraging our existing strengths and exploring new tech. About You: We’re looking for someone who writes great code but also enjoys working directly with stakeholders whilst taking a high-level strategic view of the product. We look for developers able to find creative solutions to technical problems and user needs whilst also finding opportunities to optimise and simplify software. For this role we’re looking for people capable of supporting guiding and empowering teams to produce excellent software striking the right balance between perfection and delivery. Experience with Google App Engine or Django is a plus but not mandatory. Required Skills: Experience building for the web using Python. Experience using Git to manage development in teams.
