History

Truven Health Analytics is a division of IBM Corporation now, but not too long ago they were a healthcare business under Thomson Reuters. On 23 April 2012, Reuters agreed to sell the division for $1.25 billion to Veritas Capital. On 6 June 2012, the healthcare division was finalized as a new company that was an independent organization focusing solely on healthcare. Truven is a portmanteau of two words – trusted and proven.

Truven Health Analytics has been in the business for more than 40 years and has many brands to its name. Some of these brands are the most trusted in the industry, including MarketScan, Advantage Suite, Micromedex, Simpler, ActionIO, and JWA.

Truven Health Analytics has its headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have more offices in other cities across the United States, such as Chicago, Illinois and Denver, Colorado. They employ more than 10,000 workers in various locations around the world. In March 2015, the company received $1.35 million in Grant funding from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
