Bradenton is situated in Western Florida in Manatee County. The city is located between Tampa and Sarasota, and is surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico, Manatee River, and Intercostal Waterway.
Downtown Bradenton is located in the northwest area of the city, although rapid development has occurred on the eastern side of the city, making it a popular place of residence. Additionally, Lake Manatee State Park offers freshwater fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, a beach, picnic pavilion, hiking trail, and boating facilities.
Furthermore, the Riverwalk boardwalk offers a 1.5-mile pathway and park which features beach volleyball, lounging areas, a day dock, as well as a pavilion and event area. The skate park, fishing pier, and Family Fun Zone & Splash Pad, makes the Riverwalk an excellent family-friendly area.
The city of Bradenton is home to numerous museums and historic buildings. De Soto National Memorial Park memorializes the expedition of the Spanish Conquistador Hernando de Soto, and the fierce resistance of the Native Americans to protect their homelands.
