Carrollton is a city located in the US state of Texas. The city is located in Denton, Dallas and Collin Counties.
The city lies 21 miles to the north of Dallas. With a population of around 119,000 inhabitants it is the 23rd most populous city in the state.
The city was originally a small town heavily involved in agriculture. The city has grown rapidly since the end of the second world war, driven largely by flight from urban northern Dallas into the suburbs – Carrollton, via expansion of itself and of Dallas – is now very much a suburb of the larger city.
It is consistently named toward the top of lists of best small cities to live in the United States.
The city has a very suburban feel, and boasts home ownership at around 61% of the market. The remaining homes rent for an average $1,036 per month, slightly higher than national average.
The school system provides a number of schools rated as excellent. There are a number of malls and downtown shopping & restaurants are plentiful. There is no movie theatre however; the closest is around a 15-minute drive.
The downtown DART station provides train services to Dallas with a journey time around 25 minutes.
This is very pleasant, suburban style city with excellent transport, low crime and surprisingly low living costs.
