Over the past 10 years, a plan by the Chester Council to turn the city into a tourist hotspot has led to a massive £1.3 billion investment. Dubbed the “Chester Renaissance” by onlookers, it’s involved the creation of a new car park, bus stations, a library as well as new homes and retail spots, amongst other things. The project has created thousands of new jobs, as expected.

Chester is home to the North West’s most popular tourist attraction, Chester Cathedral, as well as the most frequented wildlife attraction in the UK in the form of its zoo. It’s the hometown of current James Bond, Daniel Craig.
In 2015, it was named the best place to live in the UK by UK Hot Housing Index, taking into account real estate prices, employment levels, and local purchasing power. Other factors cited were its proximity to larger cities and excellent quality of education.
