Cleveland is a city located in Bradley County in the US State of Tennessee. With a population of around 42,000 it is the countryseat and 14th most populous city in the state.
The city is popular with tourists, with many attractions to draw in the crowds, Cherokee National Forest being chief amongst them. This National Forest covers over 650,00 acres and is full of magnificent walking and hiking routes, trout filled rivers and beautiful lakes for various water sports. Strong Industrial Base
Despite being only the 14th largest city in the state in terms of population, the city boasts the fifth largest concentration of industrial jobs, with no less than 13 companies listed on the Fortune 500 maintaining large scale manufacturing sites here.
There are large factories belonging to Whirlpool, Coca-Cola, Mars, Proctor & Gamble, Duracell and Bayer just to name some of the better known brands and companies who operate here.
Away from that a vast number of additional regional or national companies are also present producing, amongst other things, pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals and automotive parts.
The city is also home to the headquarters of Life Care Centers of America, the nation’s largest nursing facility company. The city is also HQ to Check into Cash, Inc the nation’s largest payday loan provider and also Hardwick Clothes, the nation’s oldest tailor-made clothing manufacturer.
Manufacturing dominates the jobs market here, with around 16% of all jobs being in this sector, making it far and away the biggest employing sector.
Accommodation and Food service, at 14% and retail at 12% are the next single biggest markets, driven by the tourism industry.
Healthcare and Education, both at 11% are the next biggest.
