Cypress is a city in Orange County, California with a present population of over 49,000. Originally inhabited by Native Americans, Cypress attracted Spanish settlers towards the latter half of the 18th century owing mostly to its rich pastures and numerous artesian wells. Cypress was incorporated as a city in 1956 under the name “Dairy City”. However, the name was changed to “Cypress” by a majority vote the following year.
