Origins of Duncanville began in 1845 when a noted resident of Illinois — Crawford Trees bought plots of land from in and around the area located south of Camp Dallas. By 1880, the Chicago-Texas-Mexican Railroad began building the Duncan Switch and hence, the name Duncanville came to be — named by the first postmaster of the community.
