Florence is a city located in the northwestern corner of the state of Alabama, where it is considered a local economic hub. With a population of around 40,000 people, the city was named in honor of the original Florence in Italy.

Sara Lee operates a large food processing plant, and there are manufacturing plants turning out such varied products as aluminum cans and furniture.
