Franklin is a city located in Williamson County in the US State of Tennessee. With a population of around 69,000 it is the 7th largest city in the state. It also serves as the county seat.
Located 20 miles to the south of Nashville, Franklin is one of the main cities of the Nashville Metropolitan Area.
Franklin has long been considered a suburb of Nashville, with a high percentage of the population commuting there to work.
It has experienced rapid growth in recent years, from a population of only 12,000 in 1980, as more families moved out of Nashville into places such as Franklin looking for more suburban environments.
As such, this historic city has a reputation for friendliness and community that belies its large size. Neighborhoods are generally single occupancy houses, and the local schools are consistently rated as excellent.
There is a downtown shopping district as well as the huge CoolSprings Galleria Mall that provides 1.1 million square feet of retail space. Both provide an excellent array of bars and restaurants.
The city has three major parks, all well maintained and supplied with sports fields and play equipment, 2 libraries and several movie and community theatres.

Service Industry & Strong Employment
The largest single employer in town is the CoolSprings Galleria Mall, with a workforce of around 3,500. The retail sector in fact provides over 10% of the jobs in the local economy.
Healthcare is the largest sector at 16% of jobs, with several large-scale medical facilities in the city such s Community Health Systems (1,800 employees) and Williamson Medical Center (1,300).
Nissan North America is headquartered here and employs over 1,000 people. They, along with several other large office installations, are part of the 11% professional, tech and scientific services workforce along with the 4% of administrative role jobs.
Manufacturing, at 8% of the workforce is strong and there are several factories in the city including Mars Petcare, a pet food manufacturer employing some 700 people.
Education related roles are 9% of the workforce and include the local school system along with several university and college campuses found in town.
