Frisco is a city located in the US state of Texas. The city is located in the county of Collin, and within easy reach of the larger cities of Plano and Dallas.
The city boasts a population of around 116,000 inhabitants.
Rapidly Growing Bedroom Community
The city is very much a product of modern expansion, and has been one of the fastest growing cities in the US for the past 20 years.
The city is very much a suburb of Dallas itself, and is recognized as a so-called “Bedroom Community” for professionals working out of Dallas.
The city is exceptionally well supplied with retail outlets, boasting a number of malls including the 165 store Stonebriar Centre, and a 310,000 square foot Ikea. Preston Road is lined with excellent stores and restaurants for a more traditional, “downtown” shopping experience.
The city has recently completed Frisco Square, a complex that is essentially the new downtown. Boasting 250 residential units, several restaurants, a library, movie theatre and over 40,0000 square feet of office space.
The city is well supplied with sports venues, and has its own minor league baseball, basketball and ice hockey teams.
There are a large number of excellent rated public schools in a highly regarded and well-funded local school district.
This is overall an extremely popular and well regarded city.

Service and Education Industries
Industry is quite light in this city. The largest private employer is T-Mobile who maintains a large regional office employing a workforce of around 1,500 people.
Ameriscource Bergen, a pharmaceutical company, maintains a large distribution center in the city employing just over 1,000 people.
These two facilities are the only private institutions in the city with workforces in excess of 1,000 strong – which for a city this size is quite remarkable.
The local school district is the single largest employer with a workforce of over 6,000 – the education sector in fact provides around 9% of all jobs.
Given the huge amount of retail, it is no surprise this sector is the largest employing industry, with over 14% of all jobs connected to retail, and 6% connected to food service.
Manufacturing is around 8% with Transportation around 3%. In line with many other rapidly expanding cities, construction (5%) and real estate related (3%) are strong.
