The City of Glendale lies at the southeastern end of the San Fernando Valley in the state of California. The city is actually a suburb within the Greater Los Angeles Area, being located some 8 miles north of LA, and is home to around 200,000 people.
Glendale enjoys a Mediterranean Climate, typified by mild winters and hot and dry summers. Whilst ground frosts occur most winters, it only snows about once every 5 to 10 years, so this may not be the best city to move to if you enjoy winter sports!

The Jobs market in Glendale is, outside of the usual service industries, dominated by high tech and entertainment industry jobs.
Nero AG, Burning ROM and Neopets, Inc are three of the largest technology sector employers in Glendale, along with Panda Security; an antivirus software company with is headquartered in Glendale.
Glendale has also become something of a home for animation, with Walt Disney and Dreamworks both maintaining large animation studios within the city. Dreamworks studios in particular is a major employer in the town, employing nearly 1,500 people which makes it the largest single private employer in the city.
Retail and services are also large employers here. Glendale is home to Americana at Brand, a sprawling shopping and residential park opened in 2008. The site covers over 15 acres and contains more than 75 retail premises – though this is just one of several retail centers and parks in the city.

Glendale in general has very high living standards within the city. Many residents of the city are employed in high wage technology or entertainment jobs, meaning that the local economy itself is well supported and vibrant – though not particularly diverse.
Crime and poverty rates are far below average.
The city itself does have a bit of reputation for being boring. Whether this is true or not will depend on what you look for in a local community, however it should be remembered that downtown LA is merely 8 miles away, should you find the Glendale pace of life to be a little slow sometimes!
