Hendersonville is a city located in Sumner County in the US State of Tennessee. With a population of around 54,000 inhabitants, the city is the largest in the county, the 4th largest in the Nashville Metro Area and the 11th largest city overall in the state.
The city lies a little under 20 miles to the northeast of downtown Nashville.
The city was first settled in 1784, and over the years it has been the home of a number of musicians from Taylor Swift to Marty Stuart. By far the most famous former resident however is Johnny Cash, in whose memory the main street has been renamed.
Henderson has an overall suburban feel, and is a popular city to live in, hence the high cost of living index described below. Only about 30% of the property is available for rent, the rest being owned. The average rent is around $921, which is higher than the national average.
The city boasts a number of amenities, most of which are clustered around an attractive downtown. There is a performing arts center, which includes a community theatre. Shopping opportunities are largely provided by Indian Lake Village, which is a large, upscale development that provides multiple residential, office and commercial spaces.
The local school system is well funded and provides a number of excellent schools across the full student age range.
This is a very pleasant, heavily residential city that is expensive to live in. The payoff for that price though is low crime, excellent amenities and public schools.

Suburban Service Industry
As a heavily suburban city, it should be no surprise that the biggest employing sectors are largely providing services within the city itself.
The largest single sector is retail, providing 13% of the 29,000 jobs in the city. Healthcare, at 12% and Education at 8.5% are the next biggest employers, again providing localized services.
There is a strong white-collar job market with many companies maintaining offices in and around the Indian Lake Village development, as well as downtown.
Professional and Tech Services, 6.5% and Administrative roles (5.5%) are therefore strong sectors, as is Finance & Insurance at 5%.
Transportation at 5% and construction at 4.9% round out the largest single sectors, reflecting a growing city with demand for new homes.
