Jackson is a city located in Madison County in the US State of Tennessee. With a population of around 67,000 it is also the county seat.
Located around 70 miles to the east of Memphis, it is regarded as the trade and commercial hub for the west Tennessee area.

Manufacturing & Health Dominate the Workforce
The city used to be a large transport hub, with many railroad tracks converging here with extensive engineering and unloading facilities.
Post war the railroads largely left, to be replaced with a strong manufacturing sector. In fact around 13% of the workforce are in jobs connected to manufacturing. Proctor & Gamble and Black & Decker are just two companies who have large-scale manufacturing plants located in the city.
Healthcare is also a big employer, with around 19% of the local workforce working in this industry, spread over several large medical facilities as well as smaller healthcare service providers grouped around them.
