Minnetonka is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota with a population of over 52,000. The city derives its name from the Sioux words “Mni Tanka” which mean “Great Water”. Once a sacred ground for Native Americans, the land that would eventually develop into modern Minnetonka was founded as a European settlement in the mid-19th century.
