New London is a city in New London County, Connecticut. It is a seaport city with a present population of about 27,000. Pequot Indians were the earliest settlers of the region, who called this place “Nameaug”. English explorers discovered Nameaug in 1646 and developed it as an English settlement with a new name – New London. The erstwhile town of New London became a city in 1784.
