Premium Home Town Living
Locally, you will often hear New Rochelle referred to as the Home Town. This is a reference to the high percentage of singular, one family occupancy housing that makes up the bulk of the residential homes, giving the city quite a small town feel that belies its actual size and population.
Downtown is more densely developed and is home to high rises, offices, nursing homes, medical centers and two college campuses.
Crime is low, with the city being by far the safest in the state, and living standards are high. There are excellent recreation facilities and parks. Including a beautiful waterfront home to a number of sailing clubs.
It is an excellent place to live, especially with a family. The downside however is that none of this comes cheap. As you can see below, the living costs are sky high, especially housing costs. Some of the most expensive real estate in the entire country can be found here, though the city also provides an excellent amount of affordable housing.
- Median Age: 39.3

- Median Property Value: $552, 600
