Jobs in Oceanside, California, United States
Oceanside, as the name suggest, is a city located right on the western side of California, directly on the Pacific Ocean. With a population of 165,000 it is located in San Diego County, where it is the third largest city.
Oceanside Economy & Jobs Market
The local jobs market is relatively strong, however there has not been any particularly large periods of economic growth over the past few years. Therefore new job opportunities in the city can be that much rarer than in cities experiencing more rapid, sustained growth.
That’s not to say however that the local job market is weak, and there are a number of large to medium sized employers in the city who provide a relatively diverse range of job opportunities. Tri – City Medical Center and Mora Costa College are the two largest local employers. There are also some pockets of employment related to tech companies and manufacturing in particular. Genentech and Hydranautics, both tech-manufacturing companies, maintain operations in the city employing workforces measured in the hundreds.
That being said, the city does have a large and diverse jobs market right on it’s doorstep, with San Diego less than an hours drive away.
Living in Oceanside
If you like an outdoor life, then Oceanside would be a dream city to live in. The city maintains over 3 miles of frankly pristine, sandy white beaches. The warm ocean waters too are extremely popular with surfers. There is a strong local recreational surfing scene along with many annual competitions taking place off the coast.
The local climate is also extremely kind to outdoors loving locals. The average temperature never dips below 55 Fahrenheit (13 Celsius) at any point during the year, and for around 6 months a year there is less than an inch of rainfall on average per month.
So if you dream of living with clean, warm waters lapping at pristine beaches under unbroken blue skies, then Oceanside could be the city for you.
