Originally settled in 1866 Palatine grew up around a station on the Chicago and North Western Railway. Rapid growth, which began in the 1970’s, has seen Palatine become the seventh largest community in Cook County with a population of 68,557. The revamping of downtown Palatine, which has seen the construction of a new train station, as well as homes and commercial buildings has helped to continue this growth.

Streetfest takes place at the end of August every year and sees the streets of downtown Palatine packed with food vendors, live music and entertainers. Meanwhile the village is well known for their Fourth of July celebrations, which include an annual parade, carnival and an impressive fireworks display.
While the thought of leaving the vibrant city to live in a seemingly sleepy village is often intimidating, with fears that you could miss out on life plaguing your thoughts, Palatine shows that you can have the best of both worlds.
