Rochester is situated in Strafford County in southeastern New Hampshire. Historically, the city was inhabited by the Abenaki Indian Pennacook Tribe. Modern Rochester is now one of the largest cities in the state and is made up of the villages of East Rochester, Gonic, and North Rochester.
