Jobs in Rockford, Illinois, United States
Rockford, Illinois has been dubbed as the “textbook American city”. The Forest City is located in northern Illinois, on the banks of Rock River, it is the most populous city in the state outside the Chicago Metro Area. Historically, its economy has been largely based in the manufacturing of heavy tools and machinery. With the decline of the iron and steel industry, the city has suffered economic decline similar to that of the other cities in the so called “Rust Belt”. The economic revival of the Forest City

Aerospace industries remain dominant in Rockford’s economic output. UTC Aerospace Systems and Woodward are its largest representatives.
However, with the construction of several hospital centers and other revitalization investments, the city has opened its doors to jobseekers who are interested in finding jobs in health service and construction sectors – with Swedish American Hospital being the largest employer. As a relatively large population center, Rockford also offers job opportunities in retail, accommodation and food services.
