Jobs in Sammamish, Washington, United States
The city of Sammamish in Washington’s King County is located only 20 miles from its more extravagant neighbor, Seattle. People used to consider it only as a leafy neighborhood of Seattle than a proper city until recently. Sammamish, located on the shores of incredibly beautiful Lake Sammamish, was incorporated as a city in 1999. The city ranks higher in the list of best places to live simply because of its wide open green spaces, proximity to major employers and an exceptional school district.
A City without a Main Street
Unlike other small cities in Washington or United States, there is no “main street” in the city of Sammamish yet. However, it is taking quick strides towards becoming a “real” city, a city with true sense of place. Sammamish Commons is the center of most of the entertainment activities in the city. It hosts from outdoor concerts to a farmer’s market. It also features a Shakespeare Theater. Another major attraction within city limits is the newly built aquatic and community center. The center incorporates community events, youth camps and numerous fitness classes for city residents.
No Major Private Employer in the City
The major employer in the city is government as there is lack of major private employers in Sammamish. City residents mostly travel to nearby Redmond to work. It is worth mentioning that offices of companies like Swedish Medical, Costco and Microsoft are only minutes away from the city. Other major employers operating in the city include public schools like Lake Washington School District, Issaquah School District and Safeway.
New Residential Complexes
Many developers are building new residential com retail complexes in the city. These complexes, once completed, will not only meet the increasing housing needs of city residents but will bring more shops and restaurants to Sammamish as well. There are several restaurants in the city such as Pine Lake Ale House and Sammamish Café. There are also some big shopping centers in the city including Saffron Center. However, most city residents still go to Redmond for high end shopping and fine dining just like work.
Finally, if you are looking for a city with lots of green, numerous parks, low crime rate and cheap living, Sammamish is the place to go. It is a quiet city with reasonably good neighborhoods. The schools are simply superb and there are lots of high value properties as well. It is totally opposite to its more boisterous neighbors such as Redmond and Seattle but a great place to live nonetheless.
