Jobs in San Ramon, California, United States
San Ramon is a city with a population of a little less than 76,000 in Contra Costa County, California. Before the city was built it used to be a place where people lived off the land and was noteworthy for its bountiful harvests every year. Nowadays the city has become a very sought after place to live in the San Francisco Bay Area due to its excellent schools, both public and private, and it’s become known as a great place to raise a family.
San Ramon is close enough to San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Oakland to commute to, and many decide to do so. The city is also a commercial hub in its own right, with as many people commuting into it as out of. San Ramon has some of the most affordable houses in the Bay Area and also a great variety of them.
Economy of San Ramon
San Ramon houses the headquarters of many Fortune 500 companies and other well-known names in their industries, so much so that some even consider it an unofficial part of Silicon Valley, or at the very least closely enough associated with it to not matter.
Companies with headquarters or offices in San Ramon include Chevron Corporation, AT&T Inc., Toyota, IBM and GE Global Research, all in the office park complex called Bishop Ranch in Central San Ramon. The space has everything your corporate headquarters would need; conference rooms with state of the art accessories, a food court and numerous restaurants for employees to take advantage of during their lunch break. Everything is within walking distance to cut down on time wasted going to and from places. Bishop Ranch is also on the first ever autonomous vehicle passenger shuttle route in the continent. Collectively, Bishop Ranch has over 30,000 employees working in it, with expansions seemingly always underway.
Life in San Ramon
Being a scenic city with an award winning school district and excellent job opportunities make San Ramon a great place to settle down and grow roots. The city’s moderate weather also makes it an attractive place to live, the summers aren’t too hot and the winters aren’t too cold. (Psst, this also means cutting back on electricity bills because you won’t have to constantly regulate your home’s temperature by pumping the air conditioner or heating!)
San Ramon has a crime rate that is much lower than the national average, one of the reasons why last year NerdWallet ranked it 3rd in its list of Top 5 Best Places for Young Families in Northern California. They also took into account house prices and family friendliness.
